I Remember you Daddy, Always
To you my dad, who has passed on to a higher plain, how can I forget, the laughter, the smiles, the special way you protected us.
Running after that thief who broke into our home, who didn't think you would have the nerve to go after him, but you did!
Confronting that lecher who dared to make a pass at your little girl...you did!
Calling once a month when I moved away from home...you did!
Giving me my new born even before I knew she existed...you did!
Reminding me that even in death, you are still with me...you do!
I miss you and you will always be in our hearts...always by your children remembered. R.I.P.

[dedicated to my father, Ronald, aka Lloyd. I posted this writing on my fashion blog yesterday in error and couldn't correct it until now. So technically, a Repost]

Model My Diet - Simulation
6/14/2013
Fitness Quest, foreverserenity blog, lost 4lbs, Model My Diet, Pinterest, weight loss goals, weight loss image simulator

Do you know why I enjoy Pinterest so much? Because you get to learn stuff, you get the scoop on stuff, and you see what everyone else loves! Yeah Pinterest! (I should work for them!)
Today I discovered a new instrument that will be very helpful to my workout plan, modelmydiet.com! It's a website that enables you to input your information about your body type and your looks, you are able to select even the size of your nose!!!!lol! You can input information about your hair color and type, etc. to make a simulated image of yourself. Once this is done, a respectable looking resemblance of your beautiful self will be on your screen! My simulated image is close enough to what I look like. I just hope I'm much prettier than that, otherwise I've been seriously brainwashed by hubby all these years!
So next you put information for the weight you want to be. You are also able to select a background, your choice of clothing, which is optional, umm no, get your mind out of the gutter, you will be able to select underwear as a clothing type, if you don't want to be fully clothed!
When you have finished tweaking your looks, presto! An image of your current look, the weight you are at now, and a goal look, the weight you hope to be after all of that hard workout! I think that is amazing!
So two things, if you haven't join Pinterest yet, what...go on, you're going to become as addicted as I am! Secondly, go to the link here to see the Model My Diet website!
Here are my simulated looks:
Current Weight:
Goal Weight:
By the way, I weighed myself today, I'm 4 more pounds less than I used to be; that is a total of 14lbs lost thus far! Which means that running kicks ass, and I will be back to my original weight loss number before or by the end of the year!!!
Who is motivated? I AM!!!! This means, we can do this!

In the Quest for Fitness....the Age Factor
6/13/2013
age factor in exercise, Beyonce, discomfort while running, exercise is hard, Fitness Quest, Kelly Rowland's body, Michelle Obama, Run, svelte and toned, Tina Turner, working out

In striving to get myself back to and beyond the gorgeous body that I see in my vision, you know, svelte, firm, beautiful, did I say firm...?
Oh to have the legs of Tina Turner,....
the body of Beyonce....
....and the arms of Lady O a.k.a. Michelle Obama!
Do you know whose body I also love, as in, lust-after-in-a-non-sexual-girl-you-really-look-good, kind of way? Kelly Rowland!!!!! She's the one in the middle!
These are each beautiful women of various body types and sizes. I may never be as fit as they are, however, in my own way, with my body type, becoming more svelte, will put me up there with the best of them! Now about that age factor. I've gone a week and a half without running outside, the weather has been just darn crazy here, monsoon-type rain and various thunderous lightening storms! Yesterday was the first in a while that it was a beautiful and sunny but hot day! It was fabulous for a run and I went out in the evening to do just that! Let's just say, half way through, there I was running like a gazelle (in my head), I felt a side pain and had to slow to a rumbling halt...limping along in a swift walk so as not to come to a complete stop!
I managed to do a run/walk for the rest of my workout, which was better than quitting! Today, I'm limping, because my side/back muscle hurts! Yes, I did stretch, in all the right ways, unfortunately that didn't seem to help!
That is not going to stop me though. My body may be getting over the hill, but darn it, I will drag/kick with the best of them!
Serenity note: Please do be careful when working out, and always see your doctor...as I will if my aches get any worse!

I'm on Instagram...I've done it again, joined another website...are they addictive or what?!!!! I'm still pretty new to it and getting the hang of it. I've realized some things that I like about it, the random photos, saying less...you can make it about anything! Some things I don't like...it's too impersonal; and some people really love themselves....A LOT! Which I guess is an OK thing! Confession - I do take a lot of photos of myself too, so I shouldn't criticize; for use on my facebook or my blogs, or just for the plain fun of it! I now know, that many people do it too, so I'm normal! ~whew~ LOL!
Have you ever wondered how to print the photographs you post on Instagram? I like having my photos digitally available, but I also love having the really memorable ones in photo albums. Who knew you could download them and have them for your use? I sure didn't! I am happy that Kanvess makes that possible. Some of the photo websites I've joined don't let you do that...sucks beeswax! To learn how to print your photos, follow the link to purewow.com below and learn how to do it!

The Sound of Silence
6/10/2013

Here is a question for you dear readers, "Is the pursuit of happiness synonymous with the pursuit of pleasure?" And in seeking these moments of happiness, how comfortable are you with moments of solitude, are you afraid of the silence? Do you go out of your way to seek moments of solitude?
I know, that's quite a mouthful of questions right there, I didn't ask just one! What got me reflecting on this you might wonder? I'm currently lost in reading Listening Below the Noise by Anne D. LeClaire, she wrote about how she stumbled upon what has become a sacred practice of hers, being silent. That is being quite, away from her family, any electronic devices, radio or television and especially the telephone, for a day. In this silence she learned to listen to her inner self; she was able to write, and accomplish so much because of the clarity in her thinking, she found her life was so much better for it!
I can see how this would be because in my own way, the only time that I can "see" my way through the muddle in my head at times, are the quiet times when I take my shower (though there is the noise of water running) and I am able to find the solutions to anything I'm having a problem with; and that time is also my prayer moments!
Well, have you thought about it? Are the moments when you are the happiest in your life, the times when you have the most pleasure? I do believe for a lot of people, the answer would be a resounding "Yes"! So are you able to have quiet moments - do you seek time for your moments of silence (not just when honoring or doing it in the memory of someone (or thing)? Can you have total silence or do you have to hear noise of some sort? I believe that we have become so used to the noise in our environment, that we expect it and are sometimes lost without it! We have even grown to ignore the noise of our living unless it happens to be something catastrophic! I think that says a lot about us as humans, at least for some of us. You might not be able to fall asleep without music, or the television.
When a young child begins daycare/kindergarten, one of the things that the caregivers or teachers would do is let the children have quite times. They would take a nap, or at least learn to be quiet while those who want to sleep, can sleep for a given period. It is unfortunate that this practice is not continued throughout the school years. Personally, I believe this might do a world of good to those who need to harness this way of being. This is why meditation is so popular with (some) adults, because it helps us to tune out and focus inward on ourselves! Some of us don't do this enough, me included!
Does Silence have a sound....you tell me!
